Job Description:

The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is moving to the cloud and needs to expand its range of offerings to USMC development teams. Even with IaaS accounts, they want rapid development and rapid release of software capability (akin to the concepts in the book, The Phoenix Project, by Gene Kim).

The successful applicant will work side-by-side with the NCCS-MC (formerly known as MC MSO) Technical Services Design and Delivery (TSDD) team to enable consistent, rapid onboarding of Marines to “Guardrailed” and “Policy Locked” USMC IaaS accounts.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Azure DEVSECOPS Engineer responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Near Term
    • Gap analyze the CS3 Azure delivery chain, identifying gaps in the consistent and rapid delivery of guardrailed Azure accounts that have been attached to an SCCA (Secure Cloud Computing Architecture) stack, a Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP) and their forensic abilities, and had USMC domain and security policies placed on them.
    • Develop infrastructure as code automations to overcome inconsistencies, delays and vulnerabilities in that account generation, lockdown and delivery process
    • Develop playbook/SOP for consistent delivery
  • Longer Term
    • Hook the IaC and Playbook to the Brokerage Application, so that TSDD can deliver from single pane of glass
    • Create advanced metric interface transforms so that the brokerage app can better understand and predict performance and monitor compliance with security guardrails
    • Other work includes
    • Collaborate with other contractor teammates and customers on a daily basis.
    • Work closely with customers to ensure deliverables meet their expectations and arrive in a timely manner.
    • Attend and actively participate in team meetings.
    • Perform other duties as assigned
    • Support general MSO activities, to include advising USMC applications on their suitability for Cloud, and potential architectural solutions compatible for their migration there
    • Be prepared. While the CS3 Azure is a start, the model may transfer to JEDI Azure, to other AWS and GCP supplied offerings, or you can be pulled into other DEVSECOPS software factory implementation projects
  • Able to work with other contractor teammates and customers daily.
  • Able to work closely with customers to ensure deliverables meet their expectations and arrive in a timely manner.
  • Attend and actively participate in team meetings.

Required Skills & Experience:

DEVSECOPS developer must have a good understanding of, and experience developing code to deployment continuous integration and continuous deployments, as well as the use of IaC for invoking cloud service APIs, setting policies and creating and destroying resources in the cloud.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required;
  • Experience with Azure APIs and Azure Certification (or training equal to certification)
  • Experience with Azure ARM
  • Experience with Terraform
  • Experience with Git CI, Git CD, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Crowbar or SaltStack
  • Demonstrated ability to understand Azure domain and organization structures, and the setting of policies in those Software Defined Network Tiers
  • Ability to not just setup an Azure account, roles, network and policies, but an understanding of how that affects the ability of an application to operate and developers to create/destroy/promote
  • Experience creating ground-up Terraform that creates and destroys instances in the cloud
  • Demonstrated history of continuous learning and quickly picking up and applying new skills
  • Demonstrated ability to extract concepts from users regarding needed functionality, and to translate them into concepts and workflows
  • Solid understanding of Cloud concepts and best practices
  • Experience with Continuous Integration Tools (e.g. Jenkins, Maven, TFS, VSTS)
  • Demonstrated Experience of Cooperative Teamwork, preferably in an agile model
    Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field preferred
  • Experience with Containerization (Kubernetes, Docker, Pivotal)
  • Security +, CISSP or other Security Certification meeting 8570 IAT Level 2 or 3 requirements
