Agile Coach

Job Summary

 

George Consulting is seeking an Agile Coach to support the C4ISE Integrated Product Team (IPT).

 

Job Description:

 

Roles and Responsibilities -The successful applicant will work side-by-side with the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) engineering, platform, development, and operations teams. He/she will be primarily responsible for working with a team of Lean-Agile professionals in helping the USMC adopt modern iterative delivery practices. He/she will act as a mentor to individuals as they learn to become self-organized and motivated by championing all things Agile. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Participate in the activities supporting the USMC Lean Agile Center of Excellence (LACE)

  • Coach, mentor and provide guidance to Scrum Masters/Product Owners.

  • Facilitate Scrum activities (e.g., daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, etc.).

  • Proactively lead systems and software development teams.

  • When needed, monitor and track team progress, and report that progress to project leadership.

  • Collaborate with the Senior Product Owner and Senior Architect to ensure alignment on strategy and execution.

  • Facilitate interaction and appropriate communication between Scrum teams, architecture, and UX

  • Contribute to tailored agile training content and Facilitate Agile trainings, as needed

  • Collaborate with other contractor teammates and customers daily.

  • Work closely with customers to ensure deliverables meet their expectations and arrive in a timely manner.

  • Attend and actively participate in team meetings.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

THIS POSITION REQUIRES AN ACTIVE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE POSITION OF PUBLIC TRUST.

 

The Agile Coach must have a good understanding of, and experience in Agile development. Experience and/or certifications in specific frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) are preferred. He/she should have the ability to coach individuals and teams on techniques to remove impediments, shield the team from diversions and distractions, and encourage model transparency, inspection, and adaption. He/she must have knowledge and experience with Department of Defense (DoD)/Navy plans, policies, standards, and methods. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Required Skills & Experience:

  • Ability to receive a DoD Position of Public Trust Security Clearance

  • Two (2) to Five (5) years' experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach

  • Certified SAFe® 4 Program Consultant (SPC) preferred

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or similar agile project management certification

  • Experience using Agile project management tools, preferably JIRA and Confluence

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Project, Visio

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Self-starter who is accountable and requires minimal direction and supervision; is open to new ideas, and is a creative and flexible individual who is comfortable working in a large, dynamic, and complex organization

  • Possesses personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability

  • If based in Charleston, travel to Stafford, VA required up to 40%, but will vary once a pace is set with the customer.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Two (2) years' experience in systems engineering

  • Experience with Marine Corps Programs and processes

  • Supported Agile Coaching, Mentoring or Scrum Master for DoD Programs

This position requires the employee to sit for extended periods of time, often working at the computer viewing the screens and typing, communicating on the phone, can demand standing, and some lifting up to approximately 30 lbs.
